About Us

This Play a Greater Part website is dedicated to bringing together people with research projects in sustainability with others who have the time and interest to help perform the research.

This website connects post-secondary students with an interest in sustainability to professionals who need help with a project regarding sustainability. The site is available to all types of organizations (e.g. business, government, non-profits) and the public for viewing and submitting projects.

We hope this site will help those in the fields of sustainability gain the needed human resources for performing their research, and that it will enable students to see how they can use their academic work to contribute to the solutions to our societal problems.

This site was created by the Society for College and University Planning (SCUP) in collaboration with the U. S. Partnership for Education for Sustainable Development and the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE).

The Society for College and University Planning (SCUP), established in 1965, is a collegial community dedicated to sharing, learning, and teaching best practices in planning for colleges and universities. SCUP takes a holistic view of planning; as its name implies, it embraces the full spectrum of planning functions at a postsecondary institution, including, but not limited to: academic, campus or master facilities, budgeting and financial resources, infrastructure, and strategic.

The U. S. Partnership for Education for Sustainable Development works with all sectors of society to foster sustainable development by simultaneously creating healthier ecosystems, communities and economies.  There are over 300 partner organizations.  The website has resource lists and links for the faith, business, youth, higher education, K-12, and communities sectors.

The Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) aims to advance the efforts of the entire campus sustainability community by uniting diverse initiatives and connecting practitioners in teaching, learning, operations, policy, budgeting, planning, and other areas to resources and professional development opportunities. The association also provides a professional home for campus sustainability coordinators and directors. AASHE defines sustainability in an inclusive way, encompassing human and ecological health, social justice, secure livelihoods, and a better world for all generations. AASHE is a member-driven, independent 501(c)(3). Membership in AASHE covers every individual at an institution.
